Position Title: Women’s Group Coordinator
Starting Date: February- March, 2008

Responsibilities
• Attend all Women’s Group Advisory Council meetings
• Support and work with two young women who will be hired to support the program
• Help build a leadership curriculum for young Southeast Asian women

Required Qualifications
• Experience and or knowledge of Southeast Asian (Cambodian, Hmong, Laotian, Vietnamese) communities, culture, language, and politics
• Strong communication, facilitation, and inter-personal skills
• Strong writing skills
• A positive and supportive attitude towards women

Minimum four years experience in governmental relations; in-depth understanding of federal and state legislative process; knowledge of human service system; working knowledge of housing development; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong negotiation, research and analytical skills; Bachelors degree in social sciences, public administration or related field (Masters preferred).

New American Democracy Fellowship
Job / Fellow Position Description:

The New American Democracy Fellowship is a network of community-based organizations and immigrant youth leaders in Massachusetts. The Fellowship came together in 2006 to staff the Student Immigrant Movement, with the vision of building and amplifying the political power of the immigrant community through the leadership of immigrant youth.

Job responsibilities include:
- Outreach to immigrant students and local organizations to build local membership base of the Student Immigrant Movement (SIM)
- In conjunction with Lead Organizer, facilitate meetings, develop and implement action plan on current campaigns

Requirements include:
- Minimum high school diploma or GED.
- Bilingual/Bicultural required. Immigrants or second-generation immigrants preferred.

Community Outreach Committee of PPAC 2008 Arts Scholarships.

Applications for the ARTS Scholarships 2008 program will be accepted through March 7, 2008. ARTS Scholarships 2008, sponsored by Textron, Inc. and the PPAC Annual Fund Donors, will provide 25 scholarships valued at up to $500 each to qualified, talented Rhode Island students (student must be aged 11 - 14 by June 1, 2008). These scholarships offer young artists an opportunity to attend local, summer arts education programs that will broaden their experiences in a chosen area of study.
