VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AND TIPS FROM OCEAN STATE ACTION
Tuesday, March 4 Primary-day public education CANVASSING for fair budget alternatives! If you’re not already volunteering but would still like the opportunity to be out at polls in a non-partisan capacity, the Campaign for RI’s Priorities will be at community polling locations to talk with voters about responsible solutions to the state deficit. The plan is to provide information/education on the Economic Growth & Fairness Act and long-term, humane solutions for the people of Rhode Island through re-investments in priorities they care about. Volunteer a 3-hour shift or an hour during the following times: 7am-10am or 4pm-7pm, Locations TBA.
Saturday, March 8 Int’l Women’s Day — NEIGHBORHOOD CANVASS for FAIR BUDGET SOLUTIONS ! Call or email Ivette to sign up for this important door-to-door canvass event. We will talk to people in their own communities about real alternatives to deep service and program cuts. Our goal is to have a team of 30 volunteers that day. Organize your members to join us. Training, materials and FUN will be provided. Call Ivette for details at 463-5368.
Letters to the Editor – Submit a letter to the editor supporting long-term solutions and articulating concerns about this budget deficit! We can help with a draft letter and talking points that outline alternatives including fixing the state’s broken tax system, or outlining just one of the several revenue options outlined in the Economic Growth & Fairness Act. Email Ivette at ivette@oceanstateaction.org for a letter-writing kit.
For more information on any of these opportunities, email ivette@oceanstateaction.org.
